Road construction to begin next week - Friday, May 29, 2020

The road construction projects for West Butterfield Hwy., Cottage Street from Spruce Street to the dead end and Washington Street from just past the Post Office to the City limits are scheduled to start the week of June 1. Please remember this is an estimated date and there are many things that can affect the start, especially the weather. The City was told there would not be a need to "close" the roads, but should expect some delays.

UPDATE:  The recycling center will be open on May 20 from 8am-11am and 4pm-7pm. We know everyone has lots of recyclables to take to the center! Before you head to the recycling center, here are a few things to READ to help reopen the center as smoothly and safely as possible:

DO protect  yourself and our volunteers by following the COVID-19 guidelines
      - Please wear a mask
      - Practice social distancing by staying 6 ft. away from other people
      - Don't touch your face and use hand sanitizer or wash your hands as soon as  you can after unloading
DO pre-sort your recyclables as much as possible. Also, flatten/condense bulky materials like cardboard, milk jugs, cat litter jugs and laundry detergent jugs.
DO make sure recyclables are clean.
DO be patient. There WILL be lines. Everyone has lots of recycling and it will take time to unload.

-Overwhelm the recycling center! If you have an enormous amount of recycling, please break it up into two or more trips. Only so much can be handled at one time.
-Bring items you can not unload yourself. Due to new health and safety regulations, the staff CAN NOT help you UNLOAD at this time. Keep bags and boxes light enough for you to carry.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Dog Licenses

2020 Dog License Changes

New for 2020!

An Eaton County dog license is required for all dogs four months or older. Licensing provides good pet identification, ensures dogs are vaccinated for rabies, and proves you are the owner.

Licensing will switch from a calendar year renewal to a renewal date based on your pet's rabies vaccination date in 2020. All 2019 licenses will be given amnesty until the rabies vaccination date of the dog in 2020. The purchase of 2020 licenses will not begin until January 1, 2020. There will be no new licenses issued in December 2019. A renewal notice will be mailed to licensed pet owners 30 days prior to their 2020 renewal date. To purchase a three-year license a valid rabies vaccination must be good for three years. A 2019 license will not become delinquent until the last day of the month in which the rabies vaccination expires.
